Windshieldink ALERTER will allow you to post missing vehicle alerts online, which enable Windshieldink mobile app users to access. Alerts can be for stolen vehicles, missing trailers, hit and run accidents, or amber alert situations.

Using the Windshieldink mobile app, if a person enters a vehicle license plate, an automatic in-app verification is made with the Alerter database. If an alerter vehicle is identified, the app user will get a notification containing information on who to contact. The app user can then send an email message directly to the organization with the alert and can optionally include their name or GPS location.

Q: What can Windshieldink ALERTER do for my organization?

Windshieldink ALERTER allows you to post vehicle alerts online and allows the Windshieldink mobile app to access that database. Alerts can be posted for stolen vehicles, missing trailers, hit and run events, or emergency amber alert situations. When using the Windshieldink mobile app, a person enters a vehicle license plate and our automatic verification step will check the ALERTER database. If the vehicle is flagged as an alert, the user will get an in-app notification with information on who to contact about that vehicle. They can then send an in-app email message directly to the responsible organization, that can optionally contain their contact information and GPS location.

Q: Is software installation required to manage my account with Windshieldink ALERTER?

No. Windshieldink hosts your ALERTER account on our website. Your account is kept updated by your organization's designate and can be accessed at anytime via a web browser.

Q: How does the public message my organization?

Using our free mobile app, the public can send emails to your organization addressed to your ALERTER contact person(s). The email message can optionally include their name, contact information, and GPS coordinate.

Q: Can I communicate with the message sender?

Yes, only if the message sender includes their contact phone number or email information in their message, You cannot contact them through the app if they do not include their contact information.

Q: What is the pricing structure to register with ALERTER?

The monthly subscription fee is based on the number of vehicle alerts you want to post.

Q: Does my organization need to sign a long term contract?

No. Your subscription with Windshieldink ALERTER is on a monthly basis.

Q: How do I pay for my subscription?

Subscription payments are made on-line using the third party payment processor, Stripe. Payment is accepted with Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover cards.

Q: Can I cancel my subscription at any time?

Although our hope is that this does not happen, yes, subscription cancellation can be made at any time.

Q: What is Windshieldink's refund policy?

Windshieldink does not provide refunds for subscription cancellations.

Q: How many Alerts can my organization register?

The maximum number of active alerts you can register is 50.

Q: Will Windshieldink find out-of-Province/State Alerts?

Yes, the mobile app checks the entire ALERTER database and can identify any vehicle. For example, if an alert is posted by a Toronto organization but the vehicle license plate is seen in Montreal, the vehicle will be flagged and the Toronto organization will be identified as the relevant contact. A great benefit of Alerter is that it can identify out-of-town vehicles.

Managing Your ALERTER Alerts

Q: How do I add or remove Alert’s?

Windshieldink ALERTER provides an Alert manager within your account that allows you to modify your Alerts online.

Q: When do my alerts get updated?

Alerts are instantly updated online and immediately become live.

Q: What do I do after an issue is resolved?

Once you have resolved an alert for a given vehicle, it should be deleted from your online Alert account to avoid getting additional messages for that license plate in the future.

Q: Can I register more than one contact persons email per alert?

Yes. You can assign up to two employee contact email addresses per vehicle Alert and they can be different for each alert you post. Email messages sent by the public will be automatically sent to both assigned email addresses.

Q: How secure is my data?

Windshieldink does not retain personal information or credit card data on their website. Organizational contact information provided by the customer is the only information Windshieldink maintains.

Q: How do I contact Customer Support?

Customer support is provided via email. Simply complete and submit the Technical Support form available on our website or email us at [email protected]. We are available online between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. EST.

Sending Messages

Q: Will the message sender know if the message has been sent and received by my organization?

The sender will receive in-app confirmation from Windshieldink that their message has been sent, however the sender will not know if your organization has read the message unless you respond back to them directly.

Q: How can the customer be assured the vehicle alert is from my organization?

A Windshieldink ALERTER account will include your corporate logo and organization name when your alert is verified in the mobile app. You can also include a brief message to the app user, or provide them with a phone number to call.

Q: How will my company receive messages from the public?

Messages are received and viewed using your regular internal email provider.

Q: How do I report abusive messages?

Abusive or false messages are not tolerated and should be reported to [email protected] Windshieldink will deactivate the account of abusive users.
